Ohio became a state in 1803. We are celebrating our bicenntenial this year. Ohio is also known as the Mother of Presidents because seven presidents were from Ohio. Our state tree is the buckeye. Our state bird is the cardinal. Our state flower is the red carnation. Our state motto is: With God all things are possible.
We have hot, humid summers and cold winters. Spring is a rainy season. During the fall, the leaves turn colors. In Bay Village, the lake keeps us a little cooler in the summer and a little warmer in the winter. We have had a very cold winter with more snow than usual.
